2026 Isle Royale Night Sky Photography Workshop Waitlist/Notification (Sept. 8-12, 2026)

Join Lake Superior Photography's Shawn Malone for an exciting night sky photography workshop on Isle Royale National Park.  This workshop is geared towards beginner and intermediate photographers who would like to learn about night sky photography techniques. The workshop schedule will be fluid, with priority given to maximizing our night sky field photo shoot time. It is timed to occur near the autumn equinox, which improves the odds of seeing the elusive Aurora Borealis.

There will be particular emphasis on capturing images of the night sky over Isle Royale. Workshop activities will include instruction and photography excursions around Rock Harbor.

Workshop fee includes: daily park entrance fees, transportation to/from Houghton via the NPS ferry, RANGER III, and camping while on Isle Royale in a group campsite (Rock Harbor Campground). If you prefer not to camp, there is an option to stay at Rock Harbor Lodge at your own expense.
